We know a tavern owner that claims to actually have spoken with one of her dead relatives. He will on occasion communicate with her. She has also experienced other ghosts and ghost activities. She will smell certain scents that used to be associated with some of the deceased. She says that she asked this one particular deceased person if they could see their dead friends and family and his response was that he could see them but could not communicate with them. He didn't know why. He told her he would come back to visit with her again "If they will let him". Their communication now is by moving objects in a certain manner to indicate a "yes" or "no" to her questions. She says you have to believe in ghosts for them to appear to you. Also, if they do, they should appear to you 3 days after their death.

We know of a guy that used to live in the Racine area that would drive up through Sprague Wisconsin toward Neillsville on Hwy 80 to hunt deer during rifle season. This was over 20 years ago. He would travel this route on the Friday night before opening season the next day. About 7pm in the same area on this stretch of road 3 years in a row, he encountered a ghost and didn't know it until later on. He would swerve for this drunk in the middle of the road holding a whiskey bottle and finally got tired of running off the road so stopped into a local tavern and asked someone what that drunk was doing out in the middle of the road every deer season when he drove through. Everyone laughed and said that that man had been dead for over 10 years. Needless to say, he stopped traveling that route. Rumor has it that the man was run over the night before a rifle season and left for dead. We did take a run out to this area on a Friday night before rifle season to check this out for ourselves but we didn't see anything of the sort. We video taped the entire ride and went up and down the road about 5 times. The tape revealed nothing either.
