Famous enough to be written about in books, as being the most haunted; and famous enough to have its own episode on the Discovery Channel with claims beyond the wildest of imagination. Due to ignorance on at least the behalf of the discovery channel, this innocent cemetery has suffered so much vandalism it is beyond belief. The local police were at their wits end with constant patrol of trespassers and vandals in this cemetery with people coming to see the next to impossible claims of mausoleums cracking open and pink light glowing from within. They come from miles around, actually states away to see absolutely nothing. The local police invited us to do a thorough investigation of the place just to see what the truth was. We decided for accuracy sake and skepticism that we would do three separate investigations, that way, no one could make the statement that a team was only there once and found nothing and cannot make the claim the place isn't haunted. Perhaps if they went to investigate several more times, they may find evidence. We had our Parent team PAST of Illinois join us on this investigation and we set up at 4pm and tore down 12 hours later. With two teams totaling nine people, we all came up empty handed without a single piece of evidence and were able to debunk many if not all the claims. WAGIS will be going back two more times in 2011 to follow up as promised, even though we know we will find no evidence of any hauntings.

In one evening, vandals had knocked over more than seventy percent of the aged tombstones which took volunteers days to fix and clean up. Wiccan groups would come over in the middle of the night to do rituals; kids would come over and spray paint tombstones and the mausoleum. Since all of this activity of mischievous was getting way out of control, the city placed an ordinance of no trespassing after sunset and the police vigilantly watch the cemetery and issue citations on a regular basis. Very seldom does a person not get caught and no one gets caught and let go without receiving a little souvenir that costs them some coin. Be aware that not just the police are watching the cemetery but also the neighbors are constantly watching the cemetery and informing the police of trespassers.

The police were so grateful of our investigation and the local newspaper had written two articles about us coming over to help them out and finally put an end to the rumors of the place being haunted. We had learned before we even did the investigation that the Discovery Channel shot footage for this cemetery in another state and only about ten percent of the footage was of this actual Dartford Cemetery in Green Lake Wisconsin. Two of our team members volunteered to do a cemetery patrol on the Friday night weekend of Halloween and we encountered at least twenty one people entering illegally. That was the only night that citations were not issued as we gave them verbal warnings. One couple was brazen enough to ignore our warning and we involved the police with that incident and they were ticketed simply because they were being a jackass and not heeding our warning because we were not police officers ourselves.

Although the cemetery looks and feels like the typical haunted cemetery of what one would picture in their mind, it was very peaceful.

So as it currently stands, our investigation results are that the cemetery is not haunted. We will of course do two more investigations and hopefully be able to post the same results. However, please enjoy the pictures we have posted for you.
